Mathias is a research assistant involved in the following project under the supervision of Maria Gabrielsen Jumbert:- Humanitarianism, Borders, and the Governance of Mobility: The EU and the 'Migration Crisis' (humBORDER)
He is furthermore working for Marta Bivand Erdal on a policy brief and PRIO paper related to diaspora, development and integration.

The
title of Mathias' thesis is: The Persistence of Colonialism: A Century of Italo-Libyan Relationships and Their Influence on the Current Mediterranean Migration Regime (1911 – 2017).
Mathias holds a BA in History from the University of
Oslo, Norway, as well as an MA in Modern International
and Transnational History (MITRA) from the same insitution. As part of that degree, he worked at the
German Historical Institute in Rome, Italy in the fall of 2018 and then wrote his master thesis at PRIO through the MA student exchange program with the University of Oslo. He also previously earned a BM in Composition and Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA and works as musician and composer.
